Live Free!

Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?” Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

John 8:31-36

Real freedom is not autonomy or self-rule. It isn’t found in man’s ideas of independence and earthly freedom—it is found in Christ alone. Jesus exposes our bondage to sin, breaks our chains, and brings us into God’s family as sons and daughters. True freedom is both a gift and a calling: to walk by the Spirit, to reject the old master of sin, and to serve others in love.

How about you? What do you need to be set free from?

Jesus sets you free from:

…the penalty of sin: guilt and shame
…the power of sin: addiction and bondage
…the presence of sin: eternal condemnation

So that you can be set free to:

…serve and love others
…live with purpose
…live without fear

Biblical freedom is not just escaping a prison; it is adoption into God’s family. You can be set free to love and serve others to live out your original, God-given purpose without fear.
