The hills are alive with the sound of music? Maybe in the movies, but right now, it’s the flora and fauna that are taking the stage. It’s a real art show as the flowers make their appearance after the colder months of winter. Have you taken time to enjoy nature’s beauty? Be sure to do it while God’s art is still on display. As soon as summer arrives, the flowers of spring fade.
The Bible teaches us in Isaiah 40:8 that “the grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah compares our life to the beauty of the flowers in the field. James 4:14 asks, “For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” While it would be tempting to say that the point is to enjoy your life while you have it, that would fall short of the deeper meaning. You should enjoy your life to the fullest, but you should also place your hope and trust in that which lasts forever, not in things that fade. 1 Peter 1:25 echos the truth that the word of God endures forever, but adds one very important revelation that this word is in fact the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
